So I've learned we don't really NEED our military IDs since we're not living on a base. BUT we do need to get enrolled in DEERS so the family can have insurance. So far getting there has been a huge pain in the butt. I have a Ford Explorer which gets like...3 miles to the block so we're trying to find a way to take a more fuel efficient car...and not take the kids...and get up there before 3...UGH. If you live in a bigger city, NO PROBLEM! I live in Nebraska...theres a few big cities, and the rest is wide open spaces with little towns in between. Its really not that flat off the interstate, and yes...VERY BORING. Cows, corn, and bars.
So basically what you'll need for this is Social Security card, Birth Certificate, and Marriage license or other forms of ID/Documentation. We emailed them so its a little easier.

Well, were off to get everyone's military IDs tomorrow. Luckily theres a city about 120 miles away that provides them. Unfortunately I have to get IDs for not only me, but for my 2 kids. Which of course includes providing Social Security cards, Birth Certificates, Drivers License, dna samples, rentinal scans...ok maybe not the last two but definitely uber forms of identification. Not to mention I'll have another ID that I hate the picture on!

Well, we got the call. The order that Phil has to go to basic training January 25th. I'm still learning all the lingo, so bear with me. Don't worry, I'll be updating as we go along to try and help those stranded out there. And who knows, maybe you guys will end up helping me too!
Phil's just an Army Reservist for right now, but because he is prior service Air Force the new law that came out requires him to go back to basic training. I'm not too happy about it, but I guess the pay is pretty good and its only for *ahem* "9 weeks and 4 days". Which isn't as bad as tech school which is supposed to be 6 long months.
We will get seperation pay, BAH (Basic Allowance for Housing), and the base pay. All of this is dependent upon where you live and what your rank is. While he is away we will also get Active Duty medical insurance, or the Cadillac insurance as I like to call it. So I can finally afford those fake boobs I've always wanted! Just kidding....
